Sending emails
By default, emails and email notifications are sent from the default Post Affiliate Pro address, e.g. noreply@mycompany.postaffiliatepro.com, via our mail servers.
To personalize your Post Affiliate Pro account and to make it look professional and connected to your company, it is recommended to connect your own/company email address and use it to send emails instead.
To change the email address from which emails are sent navigate in your merchant panel to Configuration > Mail account. Replace the "From Email" value, and choose how emails should be sent:
Send by mail() function
This method uses Post Affiliate Pro mail servers to send emails. If you change the email address to use your own address instead of @postaffiliatepro.com address, you will need to set up an SPF record in your domain's settings. This verifies that our servers are allowed to send emails on your behalf. Sending emails via the mail() function is limited to sent 50 emails per hour.
As our servers are shared among all customers and therefore sending a lot of traffic, there is a risk of your emails being marked as spam or even directly blocked by various mail providers. Due to that, it is always recommended to connect your email address via the SMTP method.
Send by SMTP
The SMTP method uses your own mail server/the server of your email address to send emails. It is the preferred and recommended method for email sending, with a significantly increased limit for sending emails per hour to 1000.
Email account providers usually have the necessary SMTP connection details available publicly or in the settings of your email account. For instance, to use a Gmail address for sending emails from Post Affiliate Pro, check our guide.
Email notifications and email templates
Post Affiliate Pro is able to send various email notifications to merchants or to affiliates, triggered by specific actions that happen in the system (new affiliate signup, new commission, etc.). The merchant can select which notifications shall be sent by navigating to Configuration > Email Notifications.
Merchants can also send custom emails to affiliates by navigating to Emails > Send message in their merchant panel menu.
The content and style of the mentioned email notifications can be adjusted in Configuration > Email Templates. The templates can be updated either in HTML code or in a convenient WYSIWYG (live preview) editor. The templates can contain various variables, populating real details when they are sent out.
